With its modest dimensions, Ireland encompasses a great variety of scenic beauty. This varied landscape is further enhanced by a wealth of remains from country's ancient history, which includes fortresses castles and mansions. The predominance of pastoral rather than tillage farming has enabled to retain many well preserved passage graves dating from pre-historic times.

Recalling the romance of turn-of-the-century elegance, George W. Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina offers a glimpse of a bygone era. The 250-room French Renaissance-style chateaux, first opened in 1895, still houses original furnishings and art objects collected by Mr. Vanderbilt during his lifetime.
