Private Swap – El Salvador
El Salvador (literally meaning "Republic of The Savior") is the smallest and also the most densely populated country in Central America. It borders the Pacific Ocean between Guatemala and Honduras. It lies on the Gulf of Fonseca, as do Honduras and Nicaragua further south.
It has a population of approximately 7.1 million people, as of 2009. The capital city of San Salvador is the largest city of the republic. The colón was the currency of El Salvador between 1892 and 2001, when El Salvador adopted the U.S. Dollar. The colón continues to be legal tender. (source)
Lake Suchitlan is shared by four departments in the northern and central part of El Salvador. The quickest way to get to the lake is through the colonial town of Suchitoto. The lake was formed during the winter of 1976, after the Power Generating Dam Cerrón Grande was built. Its name comes from the hacienda located on the rim of the Lempa River. The extension of the lake varies according to the season; during winter it reaches 135 km. Its elevation also differs, when in summer reaches 182 m ASL, and in winter 234 m ASL, being this last one when it reaches 2150 million cubic meters of water. (source) Thank you Claudia!
