Moravia is a historical region in Central Europe in the east of the Czech Republic, and one of the former Czech lands, together with Bohemia and Silesia. It takes its name from the Morava River which rises in the northwest of the region. Moravia's largest city is Brno, its de-facto capital since the downfall of Olomouc during the Thirty Years' War. Brno by population and area is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, the largest Moravian city, and the historical capital city of the Margraviate of Moravia.The city has over 400 thousand residents. Brno is also an important center of higher education, with 33 faculties of 13 universities and about 89,000 students. There is also a studio of the Czech Television and the Czech Radio, in both cases by law. The city is also home to Brno Television, a small local television station. ( source ) Thank you Simona!

Lednice is a village in South Moravia in the Czech Republic. In 1996 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List (together with the twin manor of Valtice) as "an exceptional example of the designed landscape that evolved in the Enlightenment and afterwards under the care of a single family." It contains a palace and the largest park in the country, which covers 200 km². ( source ) Thank you Radim!

Jeseník is a district in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. In the year 1969 the Protected Landscape Area (CHKO) Jeseník was founded, comprising the mountain ridge of Hrubý Jeseník and a part of the Zlatohorská vrchovina (Highlands). Specifically valuable areas are protected in national reserves: Šerák-Keprník with conserved virgin forest and distinguished flora and Rejvíz with the highmoor bog and rich fauna and flora. Similar importance has the National Reserve Rašenliniště Skřitek ("the peat bog") and the largest and most valuable nature reservation Praděd (Mt.) with famous Velký and Malý Kotel (big and Little Kettle) called the "Botanic Garden of the Middle Europe". Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, located in the southeast of the country. It was founded in 1243, although the area had been settled since the 5th century. As of December 2010, the population is 404,747. Brno is the capital of the South Moravian Region, the seat of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, the Supreme Court, the Supreme Administrative Court, the Supreme Prosecutor's Office, and the Ombudsman. Traditionally, Brno has served as the capital of the historic land Moravia. ( source ) Thank you Jan!

Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie), built in the first half of the 14th century, creates together with its Renaissance bell-tower architectural dominant of the Slavonice historic centre. Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is three-aisle basilical structure with presbytery in two fields of church's cross-vault and with pentagonal enclosing. South-oriented chapel of the Virgin Mary, built up in the second half of the 14th century, is interesting also thanks to well preserved Gothic frescoes. The nave, originally with flat ceiling, was covered by a Gothic cross-vault in the 15th century. The church's choir comes from the 17th century, and in early 18th century were added two Baroque chapels (St. Anthony and Our Lady of the Sorrows). The national flag of the Czech Republic is the same as the flag of the former Czechoslovakia. Upon the dissolution of Czechoslovakia the Czech Republic kept the Czechoslovak flag while the Slovak Republic adopted its own flag. The first flag of Czechoslovakia was based on the arms, and was white over red. This was identical to the Flag of Poland, so a blue triangle was added at the hoist. The flag was banned by the Nazis in 1939, and a horizontal tricolor of white, red, and blue was enforced. The original flag was restored in 1945. When the Czech and Slovak Republics separated in 1993, the Czechs adopted a flag identical to the former flag of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, in direct violation of the constitutional act that explicitly forbids former federal symbols to be used by the two successor states.
