Saaremaa is the largest island in Estonia, measuring 2,673 km². The main island of Saare County, it is located in the Baltic Sea, south of Hiiumaa island, and belongs to the West Estonian Archipelago. The capital of the island is Kuressaare, which has about 15,000 inhabitants; the whole island has over 39,000 inhabitants. The Angel’s Bridge , located on Toome hill (Estonia), was built in the 19th century and spans Lossi Street. The name is thought to come from a linguistic twist - part of the hill is landscaped like an English garden and the words "English"(inglise) and Angel (ingel) are nearly the same in Estonian. Local tradition says that when crossing it, you should hold your breath and make a wish! ( source ) When I cross the bridge I take a deep breath and start walking, but as the bridge is quite long, I always en up running the last part Aitäh Piret!

Jõgeva County is one of 15 counties of Estonia. It is situated in eastern part of the country. 36,780 people live in Jõgeva County – constituting 2.7% of the total population in Estonia (as of January 2009). ( source ) Thank you Rita!

The only remaining group of windmills on Saaremaa is located in Angla. It is the only one remaining windmill hill on Saaremaa. In 1925, when the village of Angla consisted of 13 farms, there were nine wind catchers on the hill.  At one time, these open to the winds hills of windmills were a common sight on Saaremaa. When the people were more agrarian, grew their own wheat and rye, and made their own bread, every self-respecting village had a group of windmills to grind the grain. Of the five windmills at Angla, four are typical Saaremaa type of wooden windmill. Notice the projecting wooden bar. These windmills could be turned towards whatever wind was blowing at the time. The largest one on the hill is a Holland-type of windmill, except that typically Holland-type windmills were built of stone. This one is an eight-sided wooden construction.
