The Ruhr   is an urban area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. With 4435 km² and a population of some 5.2 million (2009), it is the largest urban agglomeration in Germany. For 2010, the Ruhr region was one of the European Capitals of Culture. ( source ) Thank you Renke!

Pellworm is one of the North Frisian Islands on the North Sea coast of Germany. It is part of the Nordfriesland district in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Its area is 37 km², and its population is roughly 1,200. One of the largest hybrid renewable energy plants in Europe is to be found on Pellworm. It combines photovoltaic and wind energy to provide over 700 MWh/year of electricity. ( source ) This card was sent by an “angel”. One participant of June-November RR didn’t send out her cards, so some people started to send out replacement cards! Thank you Ines!

Cypriot euro coins feature three separate designs for the three series of coins. 1 cent, 2 cent and 5 cent: The mouflon, the most characteristic species of fauna in Cyprus, representing the island's nature and wildlife. 10 cent, 20 cent and 50 cent: The ancient Greek Kyrenia ship of 4th Century B.C., representing Cyprus's history and its character as an island as well as its importance in trade. €1 and €2: The Idol of Pomos, a cross-shaped idol dating back to the Cypriot chalcolithic period (3000 B.C.), found in Pomos, a village in the district of Paphos. It is a characteristic example of prehistoric art in Cyprus, representing the island’s antiquity, culture and civilization. American artist Erik Maell and Greek artist Tatiana Soteropoulos were chosen by the Central Bank of Cyprus to create and illustrate the designs to be used for the final coins. Gerald sent me a Thank You Card for the Andorra card I sent him on my vacation. Kiel is the capital and most populous city in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein, with a population of 238,049 (2010). Due to its geographic location in the north of Germany, Kiel has become one of the major maritime centres of Germany. The city is known for a variety of international sailing events, including the annual Kiel Week, which is the biggest sailing event in the world. The Olympic sailing competitions of the 1936 and the 1972 Summer Olympics were held in Kiel. ( source ) Thank you Gerald!
