The Strait of Dover is the strait at the narrowest part of the English Channel. The shortest distance across the strait is from Dover in England, to Pas-de-Calais, France. On a clear day, it is possible to see the opposite coastline and shoreline buildings with the naked eye, and the lights of land at night. The strait is the busiest international seaway in the world, used by over 400 commercial vessels daily. ( source ) Thank you Veronique!

Eileen sent me a great metro map card from Paris! The Paris Métro or Métropolitain is the rapid transit metro system in Paris, France. It has become a symbol of the city, noted for its density within the city limits and its uniform architecture influenced by Art Nouveau. The network's sixteen lines are mostly underground and run to 214 km in length. There are 301 stations (384 stops), of which 62 facilitate transfer to another line. Côte d'Opale is the French coast from Calais to Boulogne-sur-Mer. From the coast, England is visible on clear days. The coast is known for its beautiful cliffs such as 'Cape Blanc Nez' and 'Cape Gris Nez'. Many artists have been inspired by its landscapes, the most famous being the composer Henri Dutilleux, the writers Victor Hugo and Charles Dickens, and the painters Carolus-Duran and Maurice Boitel. This flag is based on the Coat of arms of Luxembourg and is used as the ensign to avoid the possibility of Luxembourg's ensign being confused for that of the Netherlands. The name Finistère derives from the Latin Finis Terræ , meaning end of the earth , as does the Breton name for the region, and may be compared with Land's End on the opposite side of the English Channel.
